The client approached us with a request to create a lighting solution for the new sports hall in Kohtla-Järve, specifically for aerobics. Since the task involved designing lighting for two aerobics/fitness rooms and a sports hall for ball games, the main challenge we addressed was developing a solution with minimal UGR (Unified Glare Rating) impact.
Since situations may arise in fitness rooms where people are positioned on the floor facing towards the ceiling and lights, we used linear lights with microprismatic covers and DALI dimming in these spaces. This solution provides a soft light for the eyes even when looking directly towards the light elements.
In the sports hall for ball games, the concern was to prevent glare when a person looks up towards the direction of the ball. To avoid glare, we used narrow-angle lenses on Brightlux's high-ceiling LED lights, along with glare protection made of metal. Additionally, the lights are DALI dimmable, allowing the creation of individual lighting scenes for each sector of the room.
